ANTIQUE ORNATE MERIDEN SILVER PLATE CO. ICE WATER PITCHER c. 1880
WOW! Beautiful!
Hard to describe!
Pitcher itself is 12" tall and 7" wide, not counting handle, spout, etc.
With spout and handle it is 11 1/2" wide
It is very heavy, 6 lbs 4 oz. weight
Domed hinged lid with bird ornamented top knob.  (Unfortunately its tail has been broken off)
Rim is just slightly out of round.
At the connection for the spout and handle is an 1 1/2 band of decoration
Water spout is 2" wide by 3"
Cherub Ornamentation on spout is 3 1/2" wide by 4 1/2" long
Handle is 3 1/2" by 8 1/2"
Various ornamentation pictured embellishes it.
The center front of the water pitcher has a Monogram frame, no monogram.
(Just below that on the handle side is a 1.25" indention.  Spout has a hole in the upper back side, it is visible on the 5th picture.  Does go all the way through.  Had not seen it until after I posted and was looking at the listing.  These are the only major damage other than missing tail.)
Bottom base is 1 1/8" tall slightly flared ending with a rolled edge.
Has the normal 2 vent holes on the bottom.  No breakage on weld no deterioration that I can see.
Very good condition considering the age.
Inside the spout is the "swinging" door to keep the ice in the pitcher. It doesn't quite close on its own all the way, just almost too naturally.
