Description
Being offered for your consideration is this antique Meridian Silver Plate Water Pitcher. This lovely large Victorian era pitcher is decorated with ornate geometric designs on banding at the top and bottom of the piece (see images). The spout is decorated with a large shell in relief with a scene involving animals and people above it. The hinged lid is topped with a finial chased with a concentric ring design. Under the spout is a etched frame or squareaccented with a flower and leaf design, this area
I believe was for a monogram if desired
. The piece is in very nice condition for it's age circa 1875, with antique wear to the platting and some very shallow dings or dents commensurate with age. It is structurally in beautiful condition with the lid and inside hinged flap all working smoothly. We have found no damaged areas or repairs (see images). This is a full size pitcher measuring 12 1/2" tall, 10 1/4" wide from tip of handle to tip of spout and 6 1/2" in diameter at the base. It is marked on the bottom and quadruple platted. A beautiful pitcher sure to be a striking addition to any collection, display or engagement!
