Description
Antique Middletown Plate Co. Quadruple Plated Tilt Water Pitcher with Goblets. Fair used condition. Comes with everything shown in the pictures. Does need a good polishing. The goblets are bent on the top as shown in the pictures. I do see 2 dents in the pitcher. One on the back of the lid and one on the side of the pitcher as shown in the photos. This item is very heavy at 8.2 pounds. Stands at about 20 inches tall and 9 inches wide. Each piece has markings shown as Middletown Plate Co. 500. Except for the base which has etched numbers and a sticker that says registered and traceable. I believe the sticker was placed to make sure no one stole. This item will be packed well. Due to the nature of this item, it will have to be signed for when delivered.Middletown Plate Co was created in 1864 and sold to International Silver Company in 1899 and transferred to
Wilcox Silver Plate Co
.
The factory was closed in 1941 because of metal shortage in WWII. After the war Wilcox designs were made in other International Silver Company factories. The trademark was changed to Webster Wilcox in 1961 when the Wilcox Silver Plate Co., E.G. Webster & Son and several other divisions of International Silver were consolidated. Webster-Wilcox was acquired by Oneida in 1981.
