DESCRIPTION: Up for auction tonight, we have a spectacular Hukin & Heath claret glass pitcher with silverplate handle and lid. This design comes with the rarely-seen hand blown interior chiller. As you can see, the glass is clear and in excellent condition. It measures in at approx. 10" T x 7" W x 6" diameter at base. H&H and eagle trademark stamped. Likely produced 1890-1905 per my research, could be a bit earlier. You make the call. The majority of items I sell are used. They come to me from estates, auctions, tag sales, etc. Nothing is new & perfect, and if it is, I still won't say it. Please see pics for condition. Thank you.
*The firm of Hukin & Heath (1855-1953) was established by Jonathan Wilson Hukin and John Thomas Heath as manufacturing silversmiths and electroplaters. They entered silver marks in London in 1879. The firm is renowned for its collaboration with Dr Christopher Dresser. Its showrooms were described as 'redolent of art', while the art works were produced without increasing the cost, exhibiting 'grace combined with the useful, simplicity and purity of form with readiness of application to the purposes to which they are to be applied'. Hukin & Heath's trademark comprised the initials 'H & H' with an eagle; they registered designs by Dresser from 1878 until at least 1881 and the models were produced into the early 1900s.
