LARGE VICTORIAN SILVERPLATED TANKARD PITCHER UNSIGNED TARNISHED DENTS

$ 13.19

Availability: 30 in stock
  • Brand: Unbranded
  • Age: 1850-1899
  • Style: Victorian
  • Type: Pitchers & Jugs
  • Condition: As you look from the spout side there are two large, shallow dents in the right side of the pitcher, and there are a few dents in the left side. Not to mention some small ones all over. The bottom rim is badly dented. All of this can probably be straightened out by a professional or maybe an amateur. The lid doesn't quite seat itself on the edge by the spout, and tightening the flange of the hinge that holds the lid may solve that. The tarnish is old and will be hard to remove by hand. This is an estate find sold as is with NO RETURNS. I do think it's worth the work to refurbish.
  • Composition: Silverplate

    Description

    This listing is for an old Victorian silverplated tankard style pitcher that is not marked as to manufacture. I think it's American, probably from neighboring Connecticut.  There is a worn off mark by one of the air holes in the base, but I can't read it.  The construction of the piece is double walled, so it doesn't hold as much as it appears to hold.   The finish appear really shiny in the photos, because I used a flood light indirectly, and the digital camera shows the tarnished surface looking almost polished.  That's good for detail, but the tarnish is old and dark and the pitcher is gray in person, VERY DEEPLY TARNISHED.   This piece is a project, and I won't accept returns.  Fair warning.  It's 14 inches tall to the tip of the finial, and it has potential, but I'm too lazy to try it.   As you look from the spout side there are two large, shallow dents in the right side of the pitcher, and there are a few dents in the left side. I have lots of silver plate listed in my store.   All of my items were found in estate sales and cleanouts on Cape Cod.  None of the items have been touched by the public, just stored in totes. All items have been stored for weeks or thoroughly washed.  I am in a low risk area and I am observing all precautions for virus protection.
    I use Standard Mail, First Class Mail, and Media Mail whenever possible to save you money on shipping, and I will combine items in the same box to save you money on shipping. I use foam peanuts and bubble wrap when necessary, and I use recycled products most of the time, including sturdy used cardboard boxes when I can find them.  This package will be shipped by Standard Mail.   I sell quite a bit on eBay and I get a discount for Priority Mail, especially on smaller parcels and packages going to the NE quarter of the country, so don't be surprised if it comes Priority - the discount usually makes the price the same as Standard Mail.  That way it's insured and faster, too.
