Here's another special order inspired control plate for your Telecaster. I'm especially pleased with this one, because it's a new take on getting a humbucker neck pickup to get along and play nicely with a standard single-coil bridge pickup. ( 5-way Keef also available. See other listing!)Here's what one recent customer had to say...
"After having built several Micawber type Tele's or Telebirds I finally have one Strat/Tele I just couldn't get the wiring right on. I tried changing the switch, pots, caps and resistors but no luck. Plus everything checked good on the multi-meter too. It was driving me nuts! Finally got your stacked version and everything worked fine."
The diagrams I was able to find didn't really appeal to me or this particular customer. We wanted a solution that didn't involve adding a resistor to "fool" the pickup into "seeing" a false reading. Instead, I used stacked pots, 250K and 500K, and an appropriate cap for each value (.022mF for the humbucker and .047mF for the single-coil) creating two separate volume/tone circuits. It's wired so the switch sorts them out before sending the signal to the jack. No problem! (You'll need stacked concentric knobs for this one. Easy to find right here on Reverb.)
I use Fender stacked pots, Soviet Military PIO caps, Oak Grigsby 3-way switch, Gavitt cloth-covered pushback wire and Thackery silver solder for crisp, clear connections. Also included is a hard-wired Switchcraft jack and a hard-wired bridge ground wire. If you've always wanted a "Keef" Tele but weren't sure how to deal with the pickup problem, here it is all sorted out for you!
Beautiful vintage tone, easy to wire up, and great control over your overall sound. Each pickup has its own volume and its own tone so the variety of tones in the middle position increases greatly. And you can preset each pickup's volume separately to equal them out or have one preset for lead and the other four rhythm. Please insure that your control cavity is deep enough to fit stacked pots before purchasing. You will need at least 7/8" of depth to accommodate this unit, which is normally not a problem, but just to make sure.
Thanks for looking. I will respond to all questions promptly and courteously. Please check my feedback and make your purchase with complete confidence. ROCK ON!
