Description
This listing is for a Victorian ice water pitcher or iced tea pitcher with a combination of an acid etched finish which was used to replicate years of polishing and traditional shiny silver plate finish. The pitcher was manufactured by the Middletown Plate Company in quadruple Plate which dates the manufacture of the pitcher prior to 1913 when the process was discontinued. The business was started in 1864 to manufacture silver plate hollow ware and sold hollow ware to the Rogers & Bros. who finished and marketed it with their trademark. Middletown Plate Co was one of the early silverware companies included in the International Silver Co. in 1898. The ice water pitcher or iced tea pitcher is in good Victorian condition as shown in the pictures. The silver plate is shiny and the inside is clean and usable. There is a visible repair to the horse on the top of the pitcher and marks from use. The inside is double walled and in good Victorian condition and not new. It stands about 17.75 inches tall while on the stand to the top of the handle and it measures about 9 inches wide. The pitcher alone stands about 13.5 inches tall. There are no visible repairs to the base.a.imagelink {color:#0000FF;} a:hover.imagelink {color:#0000FF;} a:visited.imagelink {color:#800080;} a.imagelink img.auctionimage { border: 2px solid #0000FF; } a:visited.imagelink img.auctionimage { border: 2px solid #800080; }
