    Description

VICTORIAN ERA INSULATED PITCHER – JASTIMPSON, “S” INITIAL ENGRAVED & VIKING HEAD
Please look at pictures carefully. The engraving and stamping on the bottom reads: “Patented  JA’ Stimpson, 1854 Extended for Seven Years” also “Meriden Br. Company” and “PAT
    D
    June 13, 1868”and “PAT
    D
Nov 3, 1868”.  Thus,we believe this was manufactured sometime in the late 19
    th
Century.  On the inside the stamping reads “Patented July 9, 1872” and “440”. The inside of the lid also has the number “440” etched into it. We believe this is triple or quadruple plated silver and is triple walled to allow insulation.  This measures approximately16” tall, 6” in diameter at the base and approximately 11 ½” from the tip of the spout to the back of the handle. Note the Viking head on the handle, the embossing on the spout, the etching all arounds and the “S” initial on the lower front. The only fault we see is the depression in the shell 5” from the bottom on the right-hand side (as you would pour it) in the non-shiny part ofthe exterior.
