This is a PHOTOCOPY of a Vintage 1940s pattern to make doll clothes for your Shirley Temple Doll. This pattern also fits dolls of the same era such as: Patsy Ann, Little Lady Doll,  Movie Dolls and other composition dolls. I have this pattern available in a variety of sizes, so please be sure that you are buying the right one. This auction is for the 18"-19" tall doll.
This pattern makes a Formal Dress, Nurses Uniform, Union Suit, and School Outfit. The formal dress a deep ruffle at the bottom and three appliqued bluebirds cascading down the front. The nurses outfit consists of a dress with a gathered skirt, topped by an full apron with straps that criss cross in the back. A scarf appliqued with a medical cross completes the ensemble. The worker's union suit is reminiscant of Rosie the Riveter. It is a one piece suit with matching cap. The school outfit consists of a dress with pleated skirt and puffed sleeves topped by a coat and hat. Also included are panties and two full slips, one that is skirt length and one that is formal length. I include a color printout of the front cover, a black and white copy of the instructions, back cover and the complete pattern. Please email me with any questions that you have.

In the 1930s the country was in the midst of the great depression and morale was low. In 1934 a young girl named Shirley Temple had her first movie role. Audiences loved her and she starred in movie after movie all with happy endings, a much needed diversion from the difficult economic times. The Ideal Toy Company started making Shirley Temple dolls to sell to her young fans. With each movie that Shirley made, a new outfit from the movie was made for sale. In addition, mothers and their daughters could purchase patterns to make clothing for their Shirley Temple dolls themselves. These patterns come from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, which just shows the lasting place Shirley Temple has in our hearts.
Due to Shirley's stardom, her dolls became an instant success and were made for many years in a large variety of sizes. Shirley Temple dolls were made in the following sizes: 11", 13", 16", 17", 18", 20", 22", 25", and 27". I have patterns available for most of these sizes.
