    Description

This is a PHOTOCOPY of a Vintage 1930s pattern to make doll clothes for your Shirley Temple Doll. I have this pattern available in a variety of sizes, so please be sure that you are buying the right one. This auction is for the 20" tall doll and fits Patsy Ann, Shirley Temple, Compostion and other Antique dolls that are a similar height.
This pattern makes two dresses, bonnet, coat and hat, robe and pajamas, and a combination undergarment. The party frock has embroidered flowers for the collar and hem plus a matching hat. The coat comes with a stylish matching cap. The second dress is a school dress with a front inset panel. The robe and pajamas coordinate and are trimmed in the "latest" 1930s style. The combination is a like a onesie with front and back skirt pieces, which acts like panties and a slip all in one. I include a color printout of the front cover, a black and white copy of the instructions, back cover and the complete pattern. Please email me with any questions that you have.

In the 1930s the country was in the midst of the great depression and morale was low. In 1934 a young girl named Shirley Temple had her first movie role. Audiences loved her and she starred in movie after movie all with happy endings, a much needed diversion from the difficult economic times. The Ideal Toy Company started making Shirley Temple dolls to sell to her young fans. With each movie that Shirley made, a new outfit from the movie was made for sale. In addition, mothers and their daughters could purchase patterns to make clothing for their Shirley Temple dolls themselves. These patterns come from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, which just shows the lasting place Shirley Temple has in our hearts.
Due to Shirley's stardom, her dolls became an instant success and were made for many years in a large variety of sizes. Shirley Temple dolls were made in the following sizes: 11", 13", 16", 17", 18", 20", 22", 25", and 27". I have patterns available for most of these sizes.
This pattern was originally created Oct 6, 1935. The copyright for this pattern has expired and it entered the public domain Jan 1, 1964.
