Description
Antique Meridan Britannia Co. Silverplate Syrup PitcherPattern, #188. SILVER plated, etched with leaves and flowers in a Art Deco pattern.
Pewter or Britannia ware was first introduced in 1808.
In 1852 6 or 7 small Britannia ware plants consolidated in the town of Meriden, CONN., to form the Meriden Britannia Co. (MBC).
In 1898, MBC ceased to exist and became part of the International Silver Co. The makers mark found on this piece was used until the 1930’s.
Makers marks: MADE AND GUARANTEED BY, MERIDEN B- COMPANY, 188, USA
Such circa ‘20-30’s.
Syrup pitcher has an inner spout to prevent dripping. See photo’s.
Measurements: 7” in height, 3.5” in diameter.
Condition: Excellent. Writer can find no dents, breaks, dings or indentations. Minor light surface scratches comparable to vintage and use, please see photo’s.
