    Description

    Classical Revival heavy silverplate water pitcher, two quart, Lewis “Sherry” Restaurant, New York City, anchor touchmark, 1891 date mark- obscure, “Gorham & Co / 06811 / silver soldered / 2 Quart”, Classical gadroon bands and tall arched handle, repousse rose and florals alternating with plain cabochon, rocaille bottom with pedestal base.
    11” tall, 8” spout to handle.      Weight- 3 lbs.

    - Louis Sherry Restaurant, New York City (1890-1919). One of the famous culinary destinations in NYC by the New York’s 400 and circa 1900 NYC’s fine dining was Louis Sherry’s, Waldorf-Astoria and Delmonico’s. After closing the
    restaurant, Louis Sherry opened a catering, candy and pastries shop at Park and 58

    St (1919) and later (1921) connected with Waldorf-Astoria in providing restaurant and functions to New York’s elite. In 1928 a building by McKim, Meade & White architects was built and is now housing Hermes.
